Line6 G50 Lag

Played an outdoor gig last Saturday. The stage was 16' x 16' and pretty high at the front. The PA, with the wireless receiver on top, was at the back of the stage. When I went down to check sound, I noticed that there was a definite lag between when I started playing and when the sound started coming out. If I stopped and started again the lag happened again.

It was a lag, not latency. Once it started working it was in sync.

I had never noticed this before. Although this was probably the toughest setup I have tried. No line of sight to the receiver and quite a few people between me and the receiver.

Not complaining.... it was just a sound check, but wondering if anybody else has heard this.

I use the G90, but my guitar players both use G50's - unless they recently upgraded.
Can't say we've had that issue - as we talk about stuff like that. And based on the perceived distance between you and the receiver.. we play on stages with 2 to 3 times that space, and move around all over it.
Check and see if it you have a repeat event. It might have been a freak interference anomaly!

considering the very rough ballpark of one ft/millisecond for the speed of sound through air, plus the 4 millisecond latency of the digital wireless itself, that's enough for like 54 milliseconds, enough to mess up your timing.

Ah.. I believe the transmitter/body packs are the same for the G90/G50. They have a low/high power setting. I have mine set to low, as I don't usually wander too far from the stage, and I believe low power kinda drops out/lags around the 50' mark.
Check what yours is set to ?

It was on high. As long as others are seeing the lag I am not worried. Like I mentioned, it was a very tough test. Lots of interference between me and the receiver. I did not have line of sight. It's just I expected drop outs, not lag.
