Hiya, guys, a little tabs thingie at the top of the forum page told me to post here, so here I'm posting. I been playing bass for a long time, not long compared to a lot of you guys out there, but seven and a half years seems long to me. I play both electric and upright, but don't ever ask me to use a bow, I'm horrible with 'em. 
I play basically whatever the band I'm in wants me to play. The bands I'm in signed me up as a rock and metal bassist, but, oddly enough, I have no real training in that department. I was taught to be a jazz bassist and adapted that experience to learn funk, so that's what I do. My upright experience is even stranger. In high school, my band director up and decided one day to take me off clarinet and put me on string bass for his concert band. "Here you go," he said. "You've got about three days to figure this thing out."
The result was a somewhat blues-like playing style (a combination of my experience as a jazz bassist and a blues guitarist).
I play on an Ibanez SR506 (that's a six string for the layman). It's great for the stuff I do, considering I play a lot of funk and blues stuff. That last string comes in handy, let me tell you. I also own a POS Johnson Long Horn fix string and an old-as-dirt fender P-Bass, though those don't get much use seeing as the Johnson has the worst pickups I've ever heard and the Fender is about as playable as a chunk of firewood (my granddad gave it to me when I first started playing: it's neck has been replaced with an old harmony neck and the pickup is actually an old Fender guitar pickup... Like I said, Firewood).
I have an Ibanez SW35 combo amp. Pathetic, I know, but I haven't had much need for more, seeing as I've been borrowing my old school's Peavey TNT 115 for the last four years. But I have to give it back now, which is actually why I joined this forum in the first place, to ask all you fine peoples your opinion on which amp I should invest in. So, considering no one will probably read this anyway, I'm going to jump over to the Amp forum and actually ask my question. L8R, guys.
