Locating room rattles

Hi all,
I never had this problem until last month, when I switched from guitar to bass. My living room rattles like crazy! I'm running all over the place, putting sticky-tac behind pictures on the walls, chasing rattles in places I didn't know could rattle! I've got a great sounding stereo in the same room and it doesn't rattle the foundation like my 600 watt 8x10 Acoustic rig does.
Any hints on general room dampening? I'm thinking about hooking up a signal generator to the amp and sweeping the frequency up and down to create, locate, and suppress all these rattles. It's driving me nuts(er)...Discuss please.
