Lockouts

So, myself and two other band members are in a three way split with another band, and a producer, who just uses the studio for vocals and mixing/editing. It's a large room with good space, and everyone is involved is a solid responsible person. The producer guy is moving out. Right about the time he informs us, we notice an ad in craigslist advertising our room for 300 dollars cheaper. The owner says it's not his business, but it is. So we're having to play round robin with this dude. Anyone else deal with a situation similar to this?

Just curious, was there a contract signed for the space and is there a sublet clause in the contract?

If the producer originally rented the room and you guys were paying him, then you really don't have much of a leg to stand on. Sounds like he got you and the other band so he could make a few bucks on the rental.

We are paying the owner directly. Not the producer. I'm going in to see the other room today. So we'll see how it all pans out. If we have to actually move across the hall to save 300 bucks on a room that is the same size, then so be it.

Where is the lockout located? If'n you might need another band to go in with, we're currently looking for a decent rate on a lockout. And we tend to practice once or twice a week, usually after 10pm.

Is a lockout a jamspace? I am confused...

I have done a lockout, on my jam space, I had one band playing other peoples gear, among other things, that was the most egregious offense. So I called up lock smith, changed the locks, and told them to come get their stuff on my schedule.

You might think I am a jerk, but you would LOVE me running your jam space, I tolerate no BS.

Where is the lockout located? If'n you might need another band to go in with, we're currently looking for a decent rate on a lockout. And we tend to practice once or twice a week, usually after 10pm.

It's in Huntington Beach. I would imagine it's kind of far for you. Hit me up if you're down.

No it's a lockout. Everyone has their own gear. Only community gear is our PA system and the other band's basic kit.
