Been using forums from talk bass for a while when googling to help me make decisions. Played for a while as a kid and set it down for 9 years.. just got back into it and have been dtudying music theiry and how to read music, instead of reading tabs to play songs everyone knows.. i want to read and write and be able to communicate better with other musicians. So im on the serious road this time, practicing 2-3 hours a night and enjoying it. Just introducing my self to the forums.

Welcome aboard. Lots of us were long-time lurkers before deciding to register and participate actively. Before long, you too will be wasting enormous amounts of time here!

Cool that you're coming back to bass after time off with a healthy new attitude. It sounds like you've got your priorities right and will probably improve quickly. Have fun!

Oh, one more thought. As long as you're re-booting, now would be an ideal time to take a close look at your technique -- before you start practicing 3 hours a day. If you didn't pay much attention to getting the fundamentals right when you were a kid, there's a good chance that you developed some bad habits that might well constrain your future progress (or possibly lead to injury, such as playing with severely bent wrists). Take this opportunity to get this stuff right before moving ahead, and it will pay dividends down the road.

Adjusting technique has been one of the hardest parts but yes you are right. I have struggled with keeping my hands positioned while playing but practicing scales more and more often it is getting easier with time
