Long time listener, first time caller...

I finally took the plunge and created an account here after benefiting from the info and opinions found here over the years and figured I'd introduce myself while I was at it.

I'm a relative noob when it comes to really trying to play the bass as a bass rather than just as a means of doubling rhythm guitar lines. I got the first bass of my own about 5 years ago (a pretty nice example of a 2008 MiM Standard Jazz Bass) and while I still consider myself primarily a guitar player, I've been blown away at how much more accessible it feels to me than guitar at the base level of mediocrity I'm currently striving to achieve ;) It's very cool how my time w/ either instrument seems to inform the other and bass seems to bring a unique kind of joy for me.

I'd say my favorite players currently popping to mind are Mike Watt, Dave Holland, Lou Barlow, Joe Lally, Charles Mingus, & Geezer Butler.

Being the gearslut that I am, here are a few shots of the current bass stuff, all far nicer than I probably deserve:

In this pic are my 2 most recently acquired basses (Fender JMJ Mustang Bass and a mid '70s Guild B-301), my first gigable actual bass head (Ampeg PF-500), and one of the cab stacks (Ampeg PF-210 and PF-115HE).

Prior to those 2 basses was the Wattplower, which is also a forever keeper to me at this point.

This pic has my 2004 Sterling 4H, the Ampeg cabs, and what I probably wind up playing through the most; the Ampeg PF-50T. You can catch a bit of my mid '70s Ampeg VT-22 head in the background that I'll play through on occasion as well.

This is the secondary stack that I put together when I convinced myself that I needed a clean/dirty biamp setup consisting of an Eden 210XLT I'd scored many moons ago w/ an Orange OBC115 and OB1-500. It's a cool setup to be sure but pretty excessive...

Especially considering how awesome my OR50+PPC212 setup seems to work for dirtier sounds for bass/Squier VI

Anywho, that's my story so far ;) Thanks for reading!
