looking for a 5 string

my price range is like 200-350. im looking for one with active electronics, but my biggest thing im looking for is easy playability.

that's probably your best bet in your price range. it might be tough to find a new active fiver in your price range, but if you're willing to go used you'll have a lot more options. i'm sure you can find used 505 (has an active EQ) for less than 350.

i've only played one peavey bass, also a solid instrument. i'm not as familiar with their brand so i'm no help there. all i can say is i've owned several Ibanez basses (a 4-string, 3 5-strings and 2 6-strings) and they've all been really solid, especially for the price.

unfortunatly im trying to stay away from used basses just because i would rather buy from the guitar center and be able to bring it back if there is a problem

how would you describe the neck and fretboard of the peavey. ive already played the ibanez so i know that the fret work on it is great but i would like to compare

to be honest i didn't spend much time with the peavey. i was using it to test an amp at GC but the pickups were placed differently than what i'm used to, so i went out to my car and brought in my own bass. i spent maybe 5 minutes with it, seemed fine. if you're on the fence play both, nobody can tell you which one is right for you. i think you'll do fine with either brand.

I played the Peavey bass you're talking about once. I felt it was a pretty good bass for the money, string spacing was tight though, it did seem a bit cheap. The Ibanez basses are tightly spaced but don't feel as cheap.
