Looking for a bookbag type bag for a Guild Starfire bass.

Most, if not all, gigbags have two shoulder straps on them so you can carry it on your back.

Does Kaces still make a large gig bag? I have one (a Kaces III) that came with my former Rick Turner RB5-FL when I bought it in October '00. The bass is long gone but I still have the gig bag (it worked well with my, also former, '67 4005WB). I am pretty certain the Guild would fit in it.

Comparatively, the Roadrunner is a higher quality bag than the Guild one I got this summer. But the Guild bag has held it's own and if you can find one, I do recommend it.

What's the overall length of the Starfire? The Roadrunner Highway Premium fits my Rickenbacker 4005V (which is long scale - 48" long) if I remove some of the foam from the convertible bottom pad. There's still plenty of protection along the bottom.

Guild claims the Starfire is 46" long, so you wouldn't think there would be any issues in fitting in this bag.

The problem isn't the length, it's the width.

I had a Rob Allen Mouse a few years back. It came with a Mono gig bag. Comparing the Mono to any other gig bag I have ever seen is like comparing a Lexus to a Chevvy…nothing against Chevvys, but they simply are not in the same class as a Lexus IMHO.
Same with the mono. I would take a mono over any other case with the exception of a custom made carbon fibre case. The one I had was extremely well made, very very well padded, and had great carry straps, both backpack and handle style.

That case is 2 or 3 inches too narrow.

This is the Rockbag Starline Hollowbody E-Bass Bag. I just recieved it from Thomann. The bass fits comfortably - snug around the lower body. 3 cm or an inch and a half of empty space above the head stock. It just arrived (Jan 2026) and
I have not used it yet, but this is a well padded bag- one step below a hard case. Multiple pockets. Reinforced at the bottom against. strap button wear.
With the case on my back I can feel the weight of the head of the bass pulling a little - lean forward if your walk up any steep hills!
