Looking for a Fender Jazz type bass with tighter string spacing?

Does anyone know if any of the Fender Jazz based companies/builders make a Jazz bass with tighter string spacing? Ideally 16.5mm - 17.5mm. A bonus would be 33 scale.

I know Overwater who designed Scott Devine's Jazz bass ( Scotts Bass Lessons) makes this exact bass. (16.5mm spacing 33in scale). Unfortunately it would come in at close to $5K once I paid exchange and shipping plus duties.

I think Sadowsky goes to 18mm but not on the Metro series. I want to stay under $2K for a 4 string.

I have owned Ibanez GWB1 which offer this string spacing. Loved the feel but I would like the specs on a Jazz bass. Not looking for another Ibanez.

I currently own an Xotic which is one of the best basses I have ever owned including my boutique basses. Anyone know if Xotic does custom builds?

Some of the 80's and 90's Yamaha RBX series had some tight string spacing, but most were of the P/J type. If you found one that felt good and played well for you, upgrade the electronics and you can have a killer bass for relatively low cost. Try a rbx 800, or 1000. My RBX 5 has 16mm string spacing.

It might be worth a call to Kurt to get a model number, and see if the 4-string version had that spacing.

Put a Hipshot A bridge on it and get just about any spacing you want

I think the G&L JB has 17mm spacing, doesn't it?

I think G&L has several neck options with different string spacing for the USA-made models.

I like the look of your new bass! I like that the bridge pickup is closer to the bridge compared to the normal SD. I suspected it would work well! So great you got it!

I am a lover of Overwater Jazzes at this point. One fretless and one fretted that have become my main instruments....and another fretted in the works!
