Looking for a new head... help?

Hey all, I'm new here, and this seems like the perfect place to ask this question. I'm looking to upgrade my rig, and would really appreciate some advice. My current rig is A Peavy Nitrobass 450 run through an Ampeg SVT 410-HLF and a Hartke 410 (VX?? I don't remember, one of the cheap ones...) I plan on ditching the Hartke sometime soon and getting another Ampeg cab, but my first goal is to get a new head. I've been playing a few different ones, and right now I'm leaning toward an Ampeg SVT 4 Pro, but I really don't want to spend all my money on the first thing that sounds pretty good and find out I could have gotten something way better. I play kind of thrashy metal most of the time, and love a good growl/crunchy tone without being truly distorted or overdriven, but I also want something that will clean up pretty well for playing under acoustic/clean bits. Suggestions?

The best advice is to play alot of different heads and cabs w/ your bass. You know, alot of people would love to have your NitroBass amp head. That is really a great amp. Maybe you just need a new cab, like a killer 410.
