Looking for a new onboard pre, using J-retro deluxe now

So I've just been curious about what I might get if I were to sell this one. I'm using a CS J with nordy singles at the moment. I've though about several other more simplified units but I can't pull myself from having that mid control. Also I don't want to leave the jack cavity empty by going to a traditional plate mounted jack. I like the more modern sound, so I think, with a strong bottom and good mids. I got the john east because I felt like it had great usable frequencies for the low and high knobs. Plus that passive tone was nice in active mode. I play straight to the board and amp is just for monitoring. Also using IE's. I have and aggie tone hammer DI so I've got that circuit already.

Any thoughts? I'm open to anything, well most anything.

I got the pro Z 4 band module for my Warwick Corvette $$.
The treble is not to harsh. I love it. I just need to change out my pickups for even better results as my pickups are way too hot. Had to turn the on board pre gain down to 15% on both pickups and I still get some distortion when playing aggressive.

I have looked at the audere. I thought about it when getting the retro but I caught a deal on the retro and got it instead.

I wish sadowsky had something with a mid control.
