looking for a program that will generate random notes for practice

Im at the point where im learning the names of all the notes on the neck. To practice so far ive been having my girlfriend call out random notes on a certain string and I find them; however, this is limiting because I have to work around her time schedule :spit:

So what im looking for is a program that will generate random notes (A,A#,B,C,C#, etc) at a preset interval.

I don't read notation, so preferably something that just says the note.

Anyone have suggestions?

thanks.

yeah, youre right; however, If ill never use it, I feel like the time spent learning would be better suited elsewhere.

and thanks for the flash card tip, ill look around for flashcard programs

Well it really is simple to learn just basic reading. Even if you took it upon yourself to learn a few notes a week and then break it down to doing various rhythmical values per week. It doesn't have to consume your routine to be effective.

I seem to remember a bass neck game....you could play it in many ways.

Like it would pinpoint a note on the neck, and you have to click what it is.

or, it gives you a note and you have to find it on the neck.

It was pretty fun, and timed for scores.

I don't know what it was called...but gives you something to google.

try "bass guitar game" "bass neck drill"

stuff like that, you'll eventually find it.
