Looking for a specific tone...

I'd like a fairly compressed, "thumpy" (I suppose) sound that doesn't pop extravagantly when slapping, but simultaneously is fairly bright throughout...I suppose the bass in this song:
exemplifies what I'm looking for, more specifically, @3:35. So I suppose my two questions are:
1) What setup would you recommend to mimic that tone? Or, if anyone knows, what setup did the bassist use for this recording?
2) Is it possible to achieve said tone on a 4003 w/ flats?

I'm not too good at this, but sounds very mid-bumped and lots of compression?
