Looking for a suitable AMP, please help

I have been playing bass for a while now but I only have a small amp for individual practice which is not powerful enough to play together with a drummer.
So now I want to buy a new amp which is strong enough to play together with a drummer who plays very loud.
I am looking for a quality, versatile amp that has a nice deep full tone. I love it when I can really feel the vibration of the amp as well but I don't know if that's still affordable.
Please give me some suggestions about which brands are good and what kind of wattage I should be looking at.
I'm new to this site and to this amp business so if something isn't clear please ask and I'll explain more.

It's a very common question, so I'll give you a typical answer. First, use the search function, plenty of info at your fingertips. Second, you'd need to give your budget, type of music you play, etc, etc. But really, search the amps forum, there are literally hundreds of threads on this subject. Good luck.

I have been searching but can't really find what I am looking for. I will be practicing together with a drummer who plays really loud with double kick all the time.
At the moment we mostly play metal-ish stuff so I'd want an amp that can handle that while at the same time not be drowned out by the drums.
On another note I don't know if I'll be playing metal until the ends of time so if there is an amp that is good with different music styles as well that would be preferred.
Also I have been told a 100 watt amp should be enough while someone else told me I'd at least need 300 watts. So now I am a bit confused and don't know what to look for.

I'd heartely recommend the ashdown mag range... My main rig is an abm 900 with an abm 4x10 cab and my practice amp is a mag300 2x10 combo. I do theatre work with a band that gets up to 12 piece at times and I'll sometimes leave the abm head at home and pair the combo with my 4x10 which gives me more than enough headroom. The mag also has better tone and versatility than any other amp in its price range, in my opinion at any rate.
