Looking for an upgrade,need some pointers

I've been playing bass for 2 years now and looking for an upgrade from my current fender squire affinity series P-bass,im not sure what make or brand to go for :L I need something that would be reliable for all sorts of traveling and giging.I mainly play rock,blues,indie,electronic,punk so a wide sound range would be needed. I have a large price range so open to all ideas.cheers

Are you looking for a whole new bass, or some upgrades to your current bass? I love my Squier P and the way it plays, you might want to look at some upgraded pickups/electronics and maybe a bridge. My P/J sports a Duncan 1/4-lb. P and I love it. Very good sound and monster output.

I was in your position a year ago. I had a similar instrument, a squier pj. If I were you, I would get an American precision or g&l l-2000 for the kind of music you play. For the music I play, I got an American deluxe jazz bass. If I need a pbass sound for
Rock or blues, I pan to the neck pup and keep bass flat, mids slightly
Cut and treble halfway cut. I I play in worship setting I'll leave all flat
And boost treble a but for some bite. I believe there is an mim model as well. Good luck!

The OP did say he had a LARGE price range and open to ALL ideas, so I gather a Fodera is a legitimate suggestion, but honestly, I couldn't justify the price even IF the money was there. That being said I really like Japanese Fenders for their price point. I've played a few American Fenders that were pretty good, but hardly worth the dough you have to fork over. If I had my choice, it would probably be a Sadowski or Valenti P/J or Jazz.

i have not thought about modding it but il look into it sounds like a good cheap-ish upgrade.Im situated in ireland and the music stores are okay for basses but they have a very small selection of american and mexican fenders but they do have some high end squires which I've never really tried out. would you guys recommend buying fenders or other basses online id much rather try the bass before i buy but theres a much bigger selection online?
ive been looking at the Fender Modern Player bass range and they look pretty good.

look for a Squier James Johnston Jazz.
It's basically a lake placid blue Squier Classic Vibe Jazz with mint green three ply pickguard

Beautiful and very reminishing of an American Standard Jazz
