I shopped around for a number of months looking for a 5 string, tried out a number of options and finally decided that the Schecter was the best fit, sound and value.
They are pretty well built. Very solid feeling and no feeling of cheapness involved. I've noticed that their frets tend to be really well dressed out of the box, finish is pretty nice with either the satin honey style over a bubinga veneer and mahogany body or the black stain with a flame maple veneer and mahogany body.
The electronics are pretty straightforward and sound pretty good for most musical situations.
Overall, I think they are one of the more overlooked and under appreciated names out there. Good value, good sound.
