Looking for my first cab and head...suggestions?

Hi everyone!

Me and my friends started a band together and I'm looking for a cab and head but would like some suggestions on what you guys recommend. I really want a tube amp and was looking for something reasonably priced for the quality.

Any suggestions are helpful as I have only been using a combo amp until now.

Best bet is to firstly, tell us your budget, then people can recommend in your price range.

My budget would probably be around $1500 but preferably closer to $1000. I know tube amps aren't usually cheap but if I have to spend to get it I'll have to and I'll just bite the bullet.

to everyone thats "in the know" it might be a bit cheesy for me to say this but..

give an honest look at a little mark II (or similar amp) paired with a VT bass. its cheaper, easier to maintain, lightweight, more versatile, and (to me) sounds straight-up-better than a real tube amp.

as far as cabinets go, search your local craigslist. you may get a great deal. for amps look on the TB classifieds. you'll have a great rig at a great price, if you shop in the right places.
