Looking for opinions on Sadowsky flat-wound strings

I’m currently have some DR flatwound strings on my Pedulla Thunderbass, and I’m not particularly enamored with the sound. I’m considering swapping out to Sadowsky.

I’d be curious what TB folks have to say about them, and also on the difference between nickel vs. stainless, and Sadowsky’s black vs. blue labels.

Or, any other recommendations?

Sadowsky black label flats have been out of production for years. They are kinda like Labella 760FL, but with a slight better mid voicing. Cant tell you about the blues, I’ve not tried those.

Here's a thread that spans 7 yrs from 2018 to 2025, during which time the Blue Label flats have gone through a few different versions. I have no personal experience with them so can't comment.

I thought I would start this thread to keep track of opinions on the re-designed Sadowsky Blue Label flats. I was a huge fan of the now discontinued Black Label flats, and have mixed feelings about the new strings which are now the only flats in Sadowsky's line (also replacing the former Blue Label flats).

My initial impressions are that the new strings feel amazing to play. The tension and flexibility feel perfect, and they are probably the most comfortable strings I have ever played.

In terms of tone, these strings initially seem more scooped than the old Black Labels. They are...

The only set of Sadowsky Flats I've ever tried was the Black Label 40-100 back in 2015, when they were made by La Bella. A nice midrange with punch and clarity. Unfortunately, they were discontinued shortly after I tried them.
