This is my first thread here and I was wanting to get some opinions on Bass Amps from people that have actually used them. Firstly, I'm 'alright' with my current rig but I'm getting tired of taking the heavy cab/head to and from places, I think the speakers may be starting to fail, and I'm looking to upgrade.
I've got a Gator rack case housing a power supply, korg rack tuner, and a Peavey Headliner 600 rack head. I'm running that into a Peavey Headliner 410. I've always been somewhat satisfied with this rig and the extra power supplies have come in handy multiple times! Currently trying to sell locally to afford the new amp.
However, I'm not gigging out on bass more than a couple of times a year, if that, and when we do gig, I'm running the bass through the PA so I don't really need a ton of sound on stage. I would like the new amp to be able to keep up with our loud drummer (classic to hard rock) without the PA just in case, be light enough for one trip to/from the gig, and be able to support the low B on my 5 string.
So here are my options and pros/cons of each.
Fender Rumble Stage - Seems loud enough. I enjoy the versatility but these types of amps always take a while to get used to/set up. I've had one before that I had to return because of random volume drops while playing. Tuner included in the effects. Light. I can sell my pedalboard and save a bit more money. I can add another cabinet if needed. I can plug in an aux cord and play tunes between sets or use to practice. Headphone jack for practice. Easy enough to find used for a discount ~$700.
MB 58R CMD 151 - I REALLY like the clarity on these. Not sure if the 15 by itself can keep up with our drummer. I can dial in a sound I like with minimum effort. 30~ pounds. No effects (but not a big deal as I have a smaller pedalboard with effects needed). I like the mute switch. Could add another cab, but Mark Bass cabinets are more expensive than Rumble cabinets. I'm not sure what the difference is sound-wise and durability-wise between the ceramic P and the neo PURE cabs or why there is a Wattage difference between the two - is one louder? BIG CON: would have to be purchased new so likely >$1,000 after taxes.
MB 58R CMB 102 - Essentially the same as above but more skeptical on if it can keep up with volume and sound for low B.
GK MB series - My local shop had a mb410 that was the BEST bass sound I've ever heard but had been sold before I decided I could afford it (it was being sold for $500). I know these are pretty light as well. Still have the aux in and headphone out. There are several 212s, 210s, 115s, available for used around me but the 410s don't come up. I've only found new ones on Reverb for $1,400 brand new and after shipping and taxes, that is way more than I can afford. I'm not sure how the other speaker cabinets compare to the 410 and this is where I'd also like input from those that have tried the different combinations. Durability? I know I could get the GK tone with a 410 cabinet and a head, but as stated in the earlier part of the post, I'd like to get away from that to just a combo.
