looking for the best amp

I'm looking for a new amp.

i'm looking into ampegs and carvins. maybe something if you recommend it.

i want a combo, 200-300w, maybe more?

I'll mainly be playing small, light, indoors, alternative rockish type stuff. More so, stuff that sounds like music from the band Cake. im shooting for a real round sound. mellow sound in the low, medium and high. really smooth, nothing aggressive or grungy. i also might play some jazz once or twice a year and might end up playing heavier alternative music.

so, i was thinking, 2x10". 200-300w .. maybe more wattage? deffiently a combo though.

Thanks

You might want to check out the new Line 6 Lowdown amp.

The Super Redhead seems nice, infact my brother had a SWR head on a big Carvin 4x10" cabinet.. put A LOT sound and bass out for only being 350watts.

But, it was pretty big and bulky, plus he uses it a lot, so he won't sell it.

I was thinking somewhere around 700$ or less. I'd prefer new.

My bro said Ampegs real nice, but from what I hear, they can sound/play weaker then compared to their wattage..?

Some of those Carvins seems nice.

RBX112NEO?
R1010?

Those two seem well priced .. looks like more then I'll need, from what I understand.

Thanks

no[?]

I'm not new to bass, just the lingo.

I was one of those people who picked up a bass someone they knew owned and started playing. I would mess with settings on amps until it gave me a cool sound I liked. But, I had no bloody clue what I was doing.

So, quit speaking gibberish, you could say. Heh heh.

What's GK? And Euphonic Audio?

Better to have more than you need than to have less. IMO, the BRX112NEO is the better amp of the two from the standpoint of tone quality, and the BRX212 (the one with one 12 facing out and the other facing down at a 45 degree angle) will be a bit better still.

Why would the BRX212 be that much better then the BRX112Neo?

I understand it cost 150$ more and has a second 12" speaker. Same wattage and same stuff on the head.

Plus the 212 is bigger ... well after reading measurments, it's only 3 foot tall .. and not that deep, so it'd fit in the explorer i drive around .. i think it might fit in the back of a honda i use a lot too .. if everythings taken out of it.
