looking into squier affinity j V

One of the things that I've seen on a lot of the Squiers is that they're using a better cut of wood for the necks than a lot of the MIM Fenders. The Squiers are getting quarter sawn necks and a lot of the MIM are getting rift or flat sawn cuts. If you're not firmiliar with what I'm talking about, just google "cuts of wood." Quarter sawn is WAY more structurally sound and resist warping and cracking a lot more. Just my $.02. BTW, I don't own a Squier 5er, but I have the CV Jazz and absolutely LOVE that bass.

Very useful update! Did you happen to try the Fender Deluxe American Jazz V bridge?

I'd bet string spacing is different on it as well, but thought I'd ask.

I'm guessing I'll be leaving it stock...

I'm warming up to the black finish on mine. May just go with a black MIM guard and not refin. ECE's pic helps.
