looking to replace my power amp

First of all, the rig...

in a 4U rack case I have a furman power conditioner, BBE tube preamp and a yorkville AP4040 power amp, powering an Ampeg pro neo 4x10 cab RMS 850w at 8ohms.

Currently, I'm pushing 700w at 8ohm using one channel on the AP4040,... I want to replace it with a 1U class D power amp (if it even exists).

reason being...

a) it weighs a ton (my rack is heavier than my 4x10 cab)
b) I think I can hear one of the cooling fans dying, also the LED's are dimly lit until I give it a 'love tap'. So its getting old and about time to retire I think
c) I want to make room for a separate pre-amp for the DI out on BBE preamp so it doesn't sound so dry in the PA.

Worst case scenario, if I have to go with a 2U power amp, I'll just get a sans amp and carry it around with me I think... but does it make sense to send a DI out from one preamp to another DI unit?

Anyhow, any advice out there?

Thanks ahead of time...
