Loose strings

I just got my Ibanez micro short scale scaled base and I was tuning it up and the E string is very loose.. It's in tune but it's very loose the other strings like the G-string G-string and the D string are kind of tight I'm not sure how tight strings are strings are on a bass since I've never played one before only played guitar,, am I doing something wrong There's already 2 winds on the peg for the E string, it's kinda floppy too, these are the strings it came with. Any suggestions? BTW don't have a amo yet so this is all unplugged so far.

I got one of those mikro basses for my daughter ... the string tension was fine ... the very short scale was way wrong at first ... but after i played it for 10 minutes I adjusted and it was fine ... the main problem I had was it was a 4 string and not a 5 string

They did make a 5  but with two J pickups :meh:

E string is tuned to e, to get to tge next octave up it would put over 3 windings on the peg, but all the strings are tuned correctly. Not sure what strings are on it

Whatever strings you end up getting, the number of windings on the tuning peg has nothing to do with the pitch you are tuning to. Watch a video on stinging a bass and see the correct length to cut your strings.

A lot of members here play and love their short scale basses. It's all I play now. Being a guitarist also you can use your guitar's low E played on the third fret (if you use standard tuning) to match the bass's G string. Then get a close match tuning across the bass's fifth fret and fine tune with your tuner.

You can play through a guitar amp but at low volume and never let the speaker distort or for low notes I call it flutter. Have fun.
