Lose volume

I play an Ibanez SR1005 with Bartolini Active pickups.
Ocasionally, while playing, I lose volume, I then pull the battery out and pop it back in, and back to normall.
Could this just be a baterry issue, or would the another reason for this?

i know the battery box in my sr1300 was really weak. the positive wire ended up coming off. now i just have my connector hanging. i would check the battery box first since you said it stops when you mess with the battery. have you put in a new battery to see if it does that? is it more of an overdrive sound when you "lose volume"? if so it could just be a dead battery or one dying

Sounds like a bad connection. Weak links in the system are, 1. battery connection (the battery itself or the other end of the wires cuz they get pulled on), 2. output jack (this
1/4" phono plug not only connects the signal to amp but usually turns on the preamp thru contacts on the female side). Plug and unplug that guitar cable and see if the trouble changes. A good visual inspection usually reveals troubles but a very thin coating of oxidization (that you can't see) can be cleaned off with De-oxit. You can buy at Radio Shack and a little goes a long way.
