Loud buzzing when putting bass on stand

Hi everyone.

New to this forum so forgive me if this is in the wrong place.

Basically the problem is whenever i put my bass on the stand, or pick it up off the stand i get an extremely loud buzzing/static sound. Its been getting worse and the buzzing now lasts for about 15 seconds.

Its such an obnoxious sound and by loud, i can have the amp set on v low, and it will still blast out at full volume, waking up anyone in the vicinity.

I've got a pretty standard set up- vintage mod jazz squier going into a rumble 30 amp. The cable is by an unidentified brand but does say "proffessional low noise instrument cable" on it. (I got it from cash converters for a tenner-local music shop closed down :-()

Anyone got any idea what the problem could be? Any suggestions much appreciated.

My first thought is that there is a problem with the input jack ground connection to the PCB on the amp. If it opens up (no connection) it's the same thing as plugging up a long wire to the input with the volume turned all the way up. I've had to replace input jacks or repair solder joints on several of the newer model Fender amps (guitar and bass) that were physically broken are had open solder joints. Always run your cord through the handle on the amp to provide strain relief. Plastic circuit board mounted jacks and their connections aren't very robust and it doesn't take much to mess them up.

After some reflection.....Be sure if it's the jack on the bass or the amp first by wiggling the cord. If it's on the bass, take the control plate off and press the prong toward the center of the jack until the male on the cord is a firm fit. If it's the amp, take it to a tech. The PCB mount jacks used in the amp aren't user serviceable.

So it turned out to be the bass input jack. Took the control pannel off and it had twisted 360 degrees and the prong was loose, so fixed that, and its now back to how it should be!

Cheers man, would have faced a three week lay off, whilst it was fixed, if you hadn't suggested that!
