I'm so ready to gig and be in a band its not funny.i Love playing and practicing everyday,it's my passion. But somedays I just get to that point where learning/covering songs and scales and etc, just gets old.I'm so hungry and eager to play live with a band.Anyone feel the same way?

I did, until I actually spoke to people in bands and read a few hundred threads in band management. That's when I realized that I would rather find some like minded friends to jam with instead joining a cover band like I had envisioned. I think music is more front porch fun than performance art for me. Best of luck on your band search, and let all your guitarists be drama free.

I agree with everyone else's comments, write songs or join a band.

I have joined/formed bands with total strangers as well as with friends and I have found there are good and bad points to both. Really does depend on what you have the calling to play, who you know and how seriously you want to gig.

Have you ever played live before?

Any open jam nights nearby? After MANY years of gigging, and then retiring, it meets my "playing live gas" (we have some really good ones here). It's also a great way to meet other musicians. I can't tell you how many bands I've seen formed at least in part by meeting/playing together at jams. I've joined 2 killer bands that way (both were the host band). It's also a great way to develop you "ear".

Yea, you should definitely get out there. But, you may find that once you're in, now that you're older and have more responsibilities that the band dynamic may become a strain and then a bore itself. But, you should definitely break out of your comfort zone. And if that doesn't work out, try something else. Write and record at home and then tailor a band around performing that stuff. That's harder to do than you think but, ultimately gratifying.

I left my most recent band because the musical direction wasn't really doing it for me. Jazz standards/blues.......yawn. So, back to the ipod accompaniment where I can play to whatever I want and put it down whenever I want and not have to drive anywhere.

I'll be back in another band, I'm sure. And complaining, most likely.
