low bass wearers

I do notice something in common among most if not, all low bass slingers, all of them have to lower their upper bodies either by humping forward or leaning backwards. But how long can they keep up with that posture, won't their back hurts? At least mine do:eyebrow:

I use to play quite high (As-if-sitting-high) and it was best for both my right and left hands. Recently I lowered it to around tummy-high because I'm forced to play harder and when the strap is high, it kind of limits the amount of power you can apply.

So basically, I've been playing for more than 2 years and still haven't figured what strap length is best for me. :<

Mine don't hurt. But then again, I dont stay leaned back all the time. Sometimes I lean a little forward, sometimes I stand up strait. Its all about moving around.

Funny I ran into this post today. I always wore my bass fairly high when I used to be in a band where I played a lot more complicated stuff. More right hand on the neck, tapping and the like. The band I'm in now, I moved it down low and played a lot of simpler lines lower on the fretboard. As the band has grown, the lines in our newer songs are getting more complicated and I have found that I can't play some of the stuff I want, so the bass is going to migrate north at practice tonight. I have always wrapped my thumb around the neck some, but I did it A LOT with the bass low. I also caught myself playing some faster stuff higher on the neck with my thumb tucked against the palm of my hand UNDER the neck. When I noticed I was doing that I decided it was time to raise it up. Nothing against anyone else who plays low and has taken the time to practice and figure out how to make it work for them.
