Lowe Custom Guitars 32″ medium scale conversion necks for bass guitar are CNC-milled and finished in the USA. The medium scale conversion neck concept is surprisingly simple. Our unique design moves the headstock and nut to the location of the first fret on a comparable 34” long scale neck. It also adds an overhang with an extra fret at the bridge end of the fretboard.

This innovative configuration yields a 32″ scale, 20-fret neck that will convert a standard long scale bass to medium scale without any additional modification. Imagine de-tuning a bass one-half step and putting a capo on the first fret and you’ve got the idea.

FEATURES

Lowe medium scale conversion necks are a direct replacement for a vintage-spec 34” scale neck, and the process is 100% reversible. The necks fits any P-type or J-type bass body from manufacturers like Allparts, Guitar Mill, Musikraft, Rosser, Mighty Mite, USA Custom Guitars, Warmoth, WD Music, etc.

I'm very interested. Let us know if this comes to pass -- I would certainly look hard at ordering one of these... Especially with the standard "f" headstock...

Are we going to be able to specify nut width, neck shape, etc? Or is it going to be a 'one size fits most' sort of process?

im in!

but can we do a more exciting headstock shape?
Like what specifically?

Lowe and Generic headstock shapes are already programmed.
Are these unfinished?
Unfinished, yes.
very interesting!
Yes.

It's coming to pass.

The deadline, details on specs that can/can't be changed, and minimum/maximum order is all that remains to be finalized.

This is happening.

Woohoo! I'd go with your 2+2 design Brad

I hope neck profile and width will be options

Keep us posted. Glad they will be unfinished, that way I can do the oil/wax I prefer....

Great news

do you think headstock will be optional or a common denominator type decision?

how about width at the nut?

To clarify, these will fit standard Fender, Allparts, Mighty Mite, WD, GFS, etc. bodies.

Warmoth 30" and 32" necks only fit Warmoth short scale bodies.

No one else is making these, at least not yet.

Would these fit a Squier Affinity Precision body? If so, I'm in.
I have no idea, there are so many variants out there.

The easiest thing to do is measure the neck pocket yourself.

Here's a graphic showing a standard pocket from Warmoth's site:

would like to see an undrilled tiltback paddle headstock option...but would go with a 't'. maybe 2.
I won't rule that out, but I also wouldn't hold my breath.

This first wave is intended to get a few necks into the hands of some players quickly and build a little PR.

I can't be absolutely certain on this, but I'd guess that "roll your own" headstock shaping is a relatively small segment within a currently untapped/unknown market.

I will say this...I'm covering all of the programming costs up front, so prices will be going up after the initial round of orders.

The early adopters will be getting a great deal!

brad, two questions -
1. in the fretboard radius section of the form two options have x's in the selection field - is this an error or are those not available?
2. re: the nut widths - you mentioned that the real nut width would be the 1st fret width of the standard neck widths - will those measurements be available, or will the standard but widths apply?
