LowEndLobster Bass Videos

Lobster, great review as always...

Just to ask: AFAIK the new P5s do get the same "fat vintage" PU as the P5R since the latter has been introduced, so for new models, the PU difference you do notice possibly won't be there. Can you clarify that with Sire?

Good eye! It looks like they've been upgraded as well. I will make a note in my P5R review and upcoming P5 Rounds vs P5R Flats videos!

Hey Everyone! Today we're checking out the new Harley Benton JB-25TH that is celebrating Harley Benton's 25th Anniversary! Featuring a slew of upgrades over the regular JB-62CC including an alder body, "flamed" (barely) roasted maple neck, a gorgeous matte firemist gold finish, and stainless steel frets, the JB-25TH is trying to go for the gold! Let's unbox this bass and give our first impressions!

Hey Everyone! We're finally putting the Squier Paranormal Rascal Bass through its paces in this full review. Featuring gorgeous vintage styling paired with high output Fender Designed Wide Range pickups, this short scale THUMPS! We had a very positive first impression with our unboxing, but how will this bass fare in our full test? Let's do this!

Are the pickups higher output than average? I find I have to plug it into the active bass channel on my amps so it doesn't slam the front end to hard. Too imprecise to roll off the volume knob 25%.

Sounds great but won't do modern well in my opinion. This rascal is vintage only.

The overall build and components is great. Not enough dive for me to bother replacing the tuners (yet).

Is this rating a record for a squier product?

Yes, I think these are pretty high output pickups. Lots of oomph. Yes, I don't think I've rated one higher. The Paranormal Jazz was a 4/5 in my book. This takes that to the next level.

Hey Everyone! Today we're modifying our Squier Paranormal '54 Jazz with a set of Lace Aluma pickups and a Wilkinson Bridge! We featured the Lace Aluma pickups in our Triple Powerhouse Jazz Pickup comparison and were very impressed by the tone and unorthodox construction of the Aluma J's. Today we're going to test them again in a passive configuration with our Squier Paranormal '54 J. Let's do this!

I got a Paranormal bass after watching your videos. I changed the pickups and modded it with new neck. I modded a HB pb neck. I didn't do anything to the squier bass that wasn't reversabe.Ill keep the squier neck with tuners and the pickups in the closet :)

I also shielded the bass with copper tape.

Lobster, I noticed in your video you said you may change the tuners to Gotoh or Hipshot. I just got my Rascal and love it, but the tuners are definitely the weak spot for me....do you know if Gotoh or Hipshot makes tuners that fit the screw pattern of the Squier tuners without having to drill new holes?

I'm not sure. I'll make a vid on it once I get around to the swap! I have a spare set of both types of tuners, so one is bound to go in!

Hey Everyone! Today we're upgrading my Fender USA Tony Franklin Signature Fretless PJ bass with a Gotoh bridge and tuners. The Tony Franklin Signature is an incredible fretless bass that suffers from some balance issues due to heavy tuners. We'll check out the weight reduction and balance improvements that these hardware upgrades provide. Let's check it out!

Hey Everyone! Today we're reviewing the brand new V5R from Sire! These basses are essentially the same as the regular V5 but with one key difference, the ROSEWOOD fingerboard! We have the same alder body, great pickups, and solid hardware as the regular V5 with the addition of a rosewood fingerboard along with cream binding and pearloid block inlays for the ultimate old school vibe. Does this bass deliver the same great experience as the regular V5? Let's find out!

Hey Everyone! Today we're putting our Squier Paranormal Rascal Bass up against our slightly modified Ephone Newport! We have a special tone shootout today as we'll be testing these basses back to back with both roundwounds (SIT Foundation) and Flatsounds (La Bella Deep Talkin Flats). Vintage vibes await you in this short scale bass battle. Let's do this!
