Double Bass lutherie supplies

It depends on what you want.
Howard Core & Co. LLC is very good. There carry about everything for bass, but you may have to establish or fulfuill some kind of dealer requirement because they don't want to undercut the dealers who spend big bucks with them.

If you want tonewood. Try Googling Tonewood and you should find a lot of suppliers of tonewood who are usually cheaper than the big wholesale outfits.

Lemur Music carries a lot of everyday items at fairly low costs.

And last of all you can check with your local bass repairperson.

Others include: Vitali Music in the LA area, Metropolitan Music, JR Music and EMMC.

Thanks for the replies.
Any other suppliers are welcome. I guess if a sizable list can be generated it could be stickied at the setup-repair forum.

I´m specifically looking for 4/4 5 string fingerboards.

François: Can this be moved again to Basses? I started a thread in setup first and went 4 days unanswered so I gather traffic is not that great over there.

Thanks

David

Hi David

If you go into the Netinstruments link (cited in one of the posts), you will find an ebony supplier in Calcutta, India (his name is Jitesh Jain). I ordered parts from him twice, and was very satisfied each time. The two fingerboards I ordered were very high quality, and cost about $125 each after shipping fees. Note, the price list seems incredibly reasonable, but the shipping, etc., tends to even things out.

If you want a 4/4 five string fingerboard, I am sure they can make it for you directly...

Good luck,

Paul (Eh_train)

International Violin Co. (Baltimore) has most everything, too-- don't know how prices compare. Quality seems good. I paid $162 for my fingerboard, but that was two years ago. It is very good quality, compard to many other fingerboards I have gotten elsewhere-- maybe I was just lucky-- I don't know.
