I shat-canned my mobile pre after it not only FUBAR'd all my sound card settings, but also burnt itself out when I rebooted. I just bought a Sb Audigy 4 card and I just run the POD into the Line input. I know a lot of people who love the M-Audio stuff, but they left a bad taste in my mouth with that Mobile Pre.

M-Audio - problem solved

M-Audio is not rubbish...I went through this learning curve in the late 1990's with other brand's cards. The Microsoft Verified status means nothing in this case, they produce quality drivers. Unfortunately, getting a DAW going requires some effort. In a nutshell:
* Is your card sharing an interrupt with another device? Most common problem: motherboards share PCI slots, so if the slot you put your card into shares with a network card or video card, there will be static and noise, and you need to try a different slot. Some motherboards document which PCI slots share with what others, and some don't. Archived newsgroups are a blessing (http://groups.google.com).
* A more rare case is a conflict with motherboard chipsets. This was more of a problem with some about 5 years ago, most likely not a problem anymore. Again, search on your motherboard/M-Audio combo in archived newsgroups,

I've got a macbook pro and a audiophile firewire and an axiom 25. The audiophile seems to be working much better with this most recent revision of the m-audio drivers. For a while there, on the last revision, I was getting some weird stuttering from the front panel knobs when using them while playing audio. I use Logic Pro and Reason mac side and protools m-powered windows side and it works fairly well for tracking bass lines. I haven't had any problems with the axiom, other than the pita that is assigning controller functions to an external controller in logic pro so I can use the transport keys on the axiom to run Logic. I just need a good dedicated bass pre, my mesa is a bit noisey. Been contemplating a PODxt or a Sadowsky Outboard. I'd also like to get a mini-me from apogee with the spdif output and some decent mic's for stereo x/y recording at some point....probably after I sell a kidney or get another student loan. Whichever comes first.

Almost everytime I use my M-Audio Ozone for recording the audio suddenly disappears and I have to switch on and off the power button to get it back again. If I disconnect or connect a cable, while the powers is on, the output signal disappears.
