Does anyone use the Line 6 M9 on bass or seen someone with it for bass?...I was just wondering, cause i'm thinking on getting one. One of my guitarist uses one and it is sweet, it will do anything and everything and more than i need

M9 anyone?

The M9 with the updated software(firmware???) is a very nice tool for bass.
I love the fact that it is more "stompbox" and less muti effects and that it has no amp modeling capabilities, I love the you can choose the order of the 3 effects. I also like that you have 3 effects waiting too. I like the fact that it has a true by pass. I like the fact that family of effects have their own color on the foot switch. I like that it is pretty intuitive, although the manual is needed to figure out some of the stuff. I like the fact that it is pretty small. The effects that it can produce are very nice too, some are not useful to me however. I like the stereo ins/outs. I like the scene setups.
I do not like that it can not be run thru your amps effects loop. I wish it had a headphones out for practicing. I am also not so happy that the tuner was not able to track my low B effectively. I wish I could use my PC to help me tweek the seting.
For $399, I think you get a good bang for the buck

As a box including so many effects, it is pretty decent and works fine for bass. When it first came out, there was too much hype about it on TB; people were even telling that they had started selling their other stomp boxes. I do not know what they had as other pieces of gear, but this is not the case for me.
I love the M9 (and has upgraded the firmware) in the sense that you can carry a set of decent effects in one simple box of solution. To me, its compressors are not on par with an EBS MultiComp or Markbass Compressore; its bass octave is decent but not as organic sounding as Aguilar's Octamizer; its envelope filters are not as good as the Emma; its ring modulator is nowhere near Moog; but it has some very decent delays and reverbs in my opinion (thanks to John Davis who recommended it). It also has a pretty decent looper, if you are into it. By the way, I am giving these specific examples, as these are some of the pedals I am quite familiar with.
As a whole, I really like it over my large pedal board, which I am too lazy to schlep around sometimes. M9 is part of my board for its reverbs, some of the delays and the looper; but I take it out for some smaller gigs where I want a simple, one-box solution.
In short, I highly recommend it for the price... Would it replace all the individual effect pedals that you have? Maybe, but not in my case...

The initial unit version was 'ok' for bass.
The upgrade v2 (or whatever current version is) is fantastic for bass.
I bought an M9 and in 2 weeks upgraded to an M13 for the extra slots available.
Just think of each 'scene' on the M9 or M13 as individual pedal boards and you'll do fine. It's not a multi-effect in the same vein as most others.... it gives you the ability to set up different pedal boards for different needs and tonal choices.

I just got mine last night and only had 10 minutes to play with it. Lots of potential here. My only disappointments were the gigantic power supply and lack of headphone outs. I found a few filters and compressors that sounded decent, but I'm primarily using the unit for modulation/delay/looping at the end of my signal chain.
There weren't that many threads or posts on TB about it and there are maybe a dozen members who have one and are using it.
And some of us did sell off a lot of pedals because of it. I had some very nice stuff that I sold thanks to it.
I am thinking of selling off some singles as well.
Do I use chorus enough to justify having the Analogman Mini on my board. Probably not.
Do I use trem enough to NEED the Empress Tremolo. No.
I could go on here...
If you haven't upgraded yours yet... definitely do it before you give any real consideration to whether you like it or not.
I own one. Is it the second coming? No. Is it better than a lot of stand-alone pedals? No. Is it good enough to replace a couple pedals? Yes. Is the additional flexibility worth the money? Yes.
I run mine in the effects loop of an Eden Navigator. It's a parallel loop with a mix control on the preamp, so I can dial it up to 50% mix with the clean bass sound. In that setup, it's *extremely* useful. Almost all of the effects are usable since I've always got a clean signal running as well. I can use a lot more of the guitar-centric distortions to get some nasty grit going on without losing any of my fundamental tone.
If you haven't tried it running in parallel, I highly recommend it. To me, the pedal becomes much more useful that way.

If you NEED to have 'that sound' with all of your effects then it won't replace anything. If you need it to git'r'dun then it can probably replace everything. If you like having 'some of the time' effects but don't want 15 of them on your board, then it will do that very well also.

I've been giving some hard thought to picking up an M9. To me it's worth it just for delay/looper, reverb and the whammy function. I'm hoping the modulation is passable and I'm not really counting on being impressed by the dirt, filters or comps so if they work for me it will be a bonus.
There are certain pedals (octave, compressor, filter, fuzz, probably phaser,) that I can't imagine being happy enough with digital versions of so it won't be replacing my whole board.
But considering that I really dig the DL-4 (the sound and function if not the build quality), that the Verbzilla is close to as good as my Dr. Scientist Reverberator and that the whammy, chorus, flangers and even phasers have sounded pretty good in clips, I think it's worth checking out.

Hold on to them. I bought an M13 and sold off a lot of my effects. Now I have almost rebuilt the pedal board and repurchased some of the effects I sold. The M9/M13 rock but there's still something about pedals.
I'm curious to know. What changes between these versions that made it so much better for bass?
I picked one up and sold off my DL4 and DD20 for it. Certainly not replacing my fuzz or overdrives, but I've been doing a lot of reorganizing lately, so I'm not even sure what's going to be staying on my board in the upcoming months. At this point I may even sell my HOG, but I'm still up in the air there (not sure if I would get another octave, need to investigate the M9's octaves more).
My issue is I haven't been able to spend enough time with it yet. I've been leaving my board at my practice space and have been super busy so I don't feel like I can give a fully informed opinion yet.

EQs - helps to shape the tone of the dirts
Bass Octave - this is the killer pedal of the M9/M13 for bass
Pitch shifter - do an octave up if you want, but it's still monophonic
The new flanger and phasers are nice with bass

Yup, you need a midi cable and the newest version of the Line6 Monkey program to upgrade.
I like mine quite a lot. I also mostly use it for the looper/mods/delay/verbs, but the versatility and the ability to carve new sounds is huge. The dirt isn't bad per se, but I have better dedicated stomps for sure. I do particularly like the jumbo fuzz setting seen here though:

Take any stompbox you have and use 2 or 3 of it in series. Can't? Oh, the M9 can do that. Record a loop and overdub some tracks with effects. Then flip the looper pre-effects and tweak, modulate, and/or noise-sculpt to your hearts dirty content. With all that and being able to control any effect parameter with expression pedals, you have quite the tool at your disposal.
