Mac Users opinion on El Capitan?

Not looking for a debate but if you can email a file then you have access to it. So put a usb stick on it and copy a bunch of files.

I owned one mac to my wife's 4 PC's so far.

I own and use both often actually, but I do prefer the mac, there's a few pc programs I can't live without.
What kind of stuff are you trying to transfer?

They said no connection could be made as the old system did not have time machine.

Just emails and photos really. I have no problem doing it but I lost some photos because before I was finished and found that if I sent more then one photo it would strip out the others and only send one that the old system became so outdated I could no longer sign onto the net to send them. NO big deal. I got the most important stuff. And can re shoot much to the items I had photos of.

I don't understand why you can't move all your data to external drives, no transfer needed. Your computer should not be used as data storage device anyhow. Keep everything on external exfat formatted drives (windows and mac compatible), backed up multiple times.

Pretty sure it's too late as I cleaned everything out. What really want to know is how to wipe my Mac G 4 clean for re sale.

I think any apple store will do it for free (don't quote me on that, I know they do it, not 100% sure about the free part).

An ethernet network doesn't have anything to do with Time Machine. You'd just connect the two computers and then drag and drop.

Have a MacBook Pro, Mid 2012 model. Just upgraded the RAM from 8 to 16gb. Runs much, much better.
Heartily recommend doing so if you can. Now I have to see about upgrading the drive to a SSD.

If you're running with less than 8GB of RAM, i'd suggest doing an upgrade if you're running an older system from 2011.

I haven't updated yet. I'm not sure if Serato Itch and the NS7 I use is compatible .
