I've got time. Care to share with the class? Or is this particular story just for you?
Ok I'll share. I had just finished a 14 day surf trip in the Maldives. On the way home I stopped to see my roommate from college. My roommate is a Hong Kong born Canadian citizen. In college he was a fellow English major like myself, and we used to enter writing contests and try to get our material published. Coming down off of pyschadelic trips we would lay down the workings for making movies together. Anyway, after school he moves to Hong Kong, works for a South China Morning Sun (I think that's the name of it - it's a big paper over there) and starts their online presence. This leads into film production which is where he is now. Hong Kong is a surprisingly small town. The ex-pats, and the Chinese Americans are a clique of partying social circles. All of my roommates buddies grew up over here, and then moved out to Hong Kong because when I graduated school the US job market was crap. Many have returned, but many have stayed through the changeover. When I visited, it was right after the changeover.
My roommate said that we were going to party our heads off. In the Maldives I was racking in about 8-9 hours of surfing a day, so I was feeling pretty healthy, and felt like I could afford to party in Hong Kong for a few nights. I was in Hong Kong for 5 nights. One of those nights I was in Maccau. The first night I get there, my buddy picks me up from the train station and we head to his apartment (having your own apartment when you're twenty something in Hong Kong is also a status thing too - my roommate had simply moved into a condo his father owned). At his apartment, myself, my roommate his g/f (now his wife), and a couple of his hot asian friends that he did "work" with were partying with us. It was a long night of debauchery, but it started out with dinner at a very nice restaurant.
I first discovered that Maggie Q was a big deal because they shut down the restaurant for us. Not only had I never heard of her, but I was also blitzed out of my skull AND I was the grubbiest dude in Hong Kong for sure (I had a long goat that I wore in a braid for the occasion). I sat next to her and hopeless hit on her and her sexy friend (a swimsuit model from singapore - who was much hotter than Maggie Q IMO) night. The food was delicious. She was gracious. And we hung out for about 3 hours. She talked about growing up in Hawaii. Having surfed in Hawaii many times we kind of talked about that. She had friends that got destroyed by ice. She got jilted by a surfer in Hawaii and vowed never to date another one (so that knocked me out of the picture right there

). I remember that much. After dinner she parted ways, but her friend hung out with us.
The funny thing was that after dinner, we were all walking down the street to the point where she would go to her house. I kept seeing these flashes. I thought I was tripping out. Then I thought it was just part of Hong Kong. We hugged and we all parted ways.
I did end up hooking up with her friend the swimsuit model though. Gorgeous petite asian girl with an English accent. OMG - that's all I'm saying.
EDIT. Hit the fn submit button too soon. Anyway. The next day we ended up in the Hong Kong tabloids. I was dubbed the "tall mysterious stranger". They were speculating that we were dating and stuff. I used to have those laying around somewhere. Long lost now.
