Double Bass Magnetic Pickups

Yes, the phase switch inverts the signal coming out of the pickup.

With the phase switch down towards the CANADA stamp, a magnetic field pushing downwards on the coils will result in a positive gradient on the waveform. With the switch up towards the BIESELE stamp a magnetic field pushing downwards on the coils will result in a negative gradient on the waveform.

Sorry if thats too much info but I had to test it and satisfy my own geeky curiosity LOL

The mag pickup on its own doesnt sound different with the phase switch either way, but once you add the signal from another pickup like the full circle certain frequencies are going to cancel out, so the phase switch will give you 2 options as to what tone sounds best.

Running the FC -> platinum -> aux input on biesele preamp would be a good idea.

The biesele is a rather basic blender, and having the extra control over the individual pickups was always what I wanted more of.

Seems like you should get a small board used for mounting guitar FX pedals and put your preamps on there and leave it on top of the amp.

Thanks for the tip.

I was also thinking about running the out of the Biesele through the Platinum preamp to have control over the total sound of both pickups mixed together. I have to find out what works the best.

This weekend I have tried the Biesele at a rehearsal and I have to say I like the sound of the both pickups mixed together. Also the sound of the Biesele coil alone I like.
It was not a loud rehearsal so I cannot judge if it's feedback proof enough yet.

Hi guys interesting conversation i am also looking at trying a mag pickup i am playing in a fairly loud rockabilly band i currently use an underwood which works well but as mentioned does have its limits before you start getting feedback and overtones. I run it into a headway pre and into an iamp 800.

I am thinking of maybe the new Krivo, String charger or biesle, and maybe blending it with the underwood. An thoughts if this would work ok?

I LOVE the Krivo. I wrote a review of it a couple of months back on here. It would likely serve you well, with or even without blending.
