Major 7 chords: bad?

I like the Maj7 interval... difficult to use in two of the bands I'm in as the guitarists play bar chords and it just doesn't sound nice.

I guess it's all about where you come from and where you take it next?

I have more difficulty making a Min7-Flat5th (VII chord in Major) sound anything but foul!

Try using it as is much more common, as a ii chord in minor.

Cheers pacman. I should have realised that, II chord of relative minor, is fairly obvious! My lessons havent taken my into chords of a minor yet, although it has crossed my mind.

BTW is that a pic of you on your avatar? - Scary, you look kinda like me!!!
