Just got these pics from Chris. This bass is being built for a show in Japan, Gakki Fair (Tokyo Musical Instruments Fair) that is like NAMM here in the US.

Thought you all might like to see this baby.
Mesquite burl top and pickup covers. Ebony board with mesquite burl blocks and BINDING EVERYWHERE!

That is the most stunning Benavente I have seen to date, heck, it is one of the most stunning basses I have ever seen!

Six strings too....

Yes, its a 6 string!

The finger board is bound with Koa which worked perfect with the Mesquite Burl top, pickup covers and block inlays.

The Maple just makes the binding stand out so well on everything.

JUst a question, if these basses are so purtyy and kickasss, whyy do all the famous people use non customs (wel, not al, but most)

For the most part its because what you call famous people play whats free to them. How many times have I heard guys say that when they deside to quite endorsing brand X product their buying X bass or cab for themselves.

Many would probably love to get a signature model but don't get offered one. A lot of endorsement deal involve money being paid to them as well as free gear. So what would you play????

Well there are the players that play what they want (well, not all) & there are those that play what are given to them. (but most)
