Maybe he's metaphoricly in the second week of class and is going to build at the of of the semester.To put it into perspective if one was to take a graduate level course in speaker building the actual construction of a cabinet would be the 'final exam', taking place at the end of the semester, after some 80 hours of classroom instruction and perhaps three times that amount of home study. The questions posed by the OP would be covered within the first two weeks of classes.
The only to gain experience is by doing. So how then is it good advice to tell someone to not bother building a cab?Dare I say it but in this case the lack of experience may = lack of knowledge
Or, and this may sound strange, direct the people to where they can have their question answered such as stickies, other sites or books.
All of that information is available, in great detail, with much of it provided by members such as Bill and Greenboy, in the "Amps FAQ" sticky at the top of the Amps sub-forum. Reading the stickies and searching before posting should be forum basics for most people.
Maybe I can find a nice J bass thread to jump into so I can tell everybody they should just switch to a P anyway...![]()

Often times when starting to look into a topic you don't even know where to begin looking for answers so you ask others. People should either answer, state where the answer can be found or remain silent.
My minister always says that the things we say should always be true, nessessary and kind. If the thing you were going to say isn't all 3 then don't say anything. Bill's post was true, may have been nessessary, but clearly wasn't kind.
