Those, Centipedes are ****** fast btw...and then can get in between stuff...chased one around my living room/ bathrrom for a good 5 minutes once with a shoe.

Then there's this famous pic of a "Camel Spider":

Technically not a spider, but they can run fast as hell.

I encountered those at an Air Force base in the Saudi Arabian desert. They are wicked looking "in the wild" because they hold their two frontmost legs up at a 45 degree angle when they walk and they look like horns. Also, they move very quickly. Just a glimpse will get your adrenalin pumping, for sure! The ones I saw were not as large as the ones in the pictures though, maybe 3-4" across. I also used to dodge scorpions regularly on the running track.

From the wikipedia page on the house centipede:

"S. coleoptrata is indigenous to the Mediterranean region, but it has spread through much of Europe, Asia, and North America."

mwahahahahaaa, it's watching you while you sleep...sweet dreams :)

The sight of those centipedes creeps me out a little.
I never seen one of those in real life, and I assume house centipedes aren't so big over here due to climate.

Luckily I keep spiders around, I hope they deal with all the bugs.

Not spiders as in pets, I mean if I see a spider I would not kill it.
I co-exist with them, they can walk around my house.

I see centipedes all over the place outside and in my garage.
sometimes i see them in my bathroom too.

i know that this sounds like the traits of a serial killer LOL, but centipedes are really fun to blow torch...
you give them a half second blast from a MAPP gas torch and all the legs are instantly burned off.

that's awesome, cause I was figuring that a large stomping boot was too good for those things. awesome.:)

a Dobsonfly?
Scary but those big ol' pinchers are for da luv-makin'. The one in the pic is a male. They're harmless but creepy.

I know, they just creep me out. They are all over the place here in the summer and fall after dusk...can't walk outside barefoot...(crunch crunch ) and practically cover the screen sections on my house's doors. (I live near water)

I absolutely hate those house centipedes. I have gotten very creative with my methods of killing them, when I can actually catch them that is. Anything from spraying them with a can of air duster turned upside down (insta freeze) to a spray product called Wire Dryer to good old fashioned golf clubs and crowbars.
