manual or user info needed for L4 lab series head

anything ya got, I bought it for the Kid, redid the power cord and fan. finished the cabinet up, ready to put power to the head, and I would like to know, rather than guess, what all the knobs do

That is the show, my main concern, is the two channel bit, where some people say one is better than the other. so..... how are they different, how do they bridge, etc

Hi meicalnissyen.

This LAB amp works, yes? If you need to buy anything else (cables, strings etc) at a music shop, then why not bring the LAB along for a look-see & how-to by one of the store's senior staffers?

I'd expect this two channel amp is a lot like others which I saw or used back then: one darker-sounding channel for bass, and one brighter-sounding channel for guitar (the one with the most controls).

As for "bridging"? You could try plugging an instrument into one of 'channel one's' two input jacks and use a short patch cable to patch the remaining jack over to 'channel two'. (If you feel uncomfortable trying this then please let an 'old timer' have a gawk at it first.)

Me? I'd just skip anything tricky and plug into the channel which has the most knobs.

Can you post some closeup pics which show the labels on the LAB's front & *rear panels and jacks?

*The important thing here is that the impedance of the cab you're going to use with this head is a proper match.

I used to have an L4. No manual anymore though. The amp is pretty straightforward other than the parametric midrange control on the one channel. I used to set that channel up for lows, set the other channel up for highs and then run into both channels. Sort of a poor mans biamp setup. The amp was ok. I did have some problems with internittent buzzing that i eventually traced to some cold solder joints. The combo power switch/breaker is a little flaky. Mine eventually broke and I replaced it with a conventional power switch and fuse. I always felt like the response time on that amp was noticably slow. Anyway........good luck.

Spoke with a nice guy named Dennis Chandler, who explained basic operation and features very well

Of note, the hi and low input jacks refer to amplifier input sensitivity, interesting touch

BUMP for a schematic – anyone got a schematic? I've seen schematics for L5, looking for L4 specifically.

I've scoured the web, the only thing close I could find is here:

"G23" is for the whole Lab Series, and quite frankly is expensive for something that may not even contain the desired info...


Wait a sec, what's this???

Hmmm only Invalid Link Removed seems to still be working, but 'tis the bulk of the L4 preamp's schematic...


...If it is indeed the L4 schematic.

Can anyone confirm?
