How many people have their bass set up to manufacturer specs......relief in neck, bridge and nut set up etc.???

MusicMan specs seem to yield what I percieve to be high action and I would prefer a tad lower.

Is it abnormal to prefer lower than what the manufacturer says??

I absolutely agree with you that mfg out of box action is more often then not higher then Id ever use. Jackson and BC Rich being the two main mfg whose factory out of box action is closer to my pref for low action. But even with these two, Its not unusual for me to give truss rod a small tweak for straighter neck and/or lower action at the bridge a little bit. Ive never concidered mfg recc or whatever action to be anything but medium action at best in most cases with most mfg.
