I just got back from seeing the Stanley Clarke, Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller show. In the first song Marcus Miller picks up an alto sax for about 20 seconds and plays some unison parts. Then, a little more than halfway through, be brings out a bass clarinet. Does a song featuring him and Stanley Clarke on Upright, and it was really good. Apparently he has decent sax/clarinet chops. Anybody hear of this before?

Miles Davis said something similar.
IIRC, In an interview Marcus was recalling some of the work he did with Miles Davis and Miles told him that was *his* instrument and said that's what he should be playing.
By that he meant his clarinet playing had a unique voice and was something he should do more of. I think Marcus's reply was something like "thanks, but I think I can get more work with my bass", in a joking manner.
