I'm trying to understand the part where "having a video with a bunch of black guys in it" caused her skin color to change.
Who cares, I don't care if she's purple or pink, I still wont like her whale untrasonic bailing thing that she has going on.
I know what he means, maybe it doesn't click from people outside of the states? I'm pretty sure he just means she used to be a normal, more concervative, pop singer. Now she's got the completely different image..

I agree, seems like Mariah is trying very hard to be Beyonce (more likely some record company dude has made this choice) in her videos/latest album. I dont think she quite pulls it off tho.

Well, she's always been from a mixed racial family. I see no problems with that. I have more of a problem with the way she's chunked out. She used to be one fine piece. Remember the pic on her 1st album cover.....Hey Now !

Skin colour is important in the marketing of music. There are radio stations that target the Blacks a demeographic.
The records company played on Mariah's ambigious race (is she Black or White ?) in marketing her music. Put her in a video with black rappers and voila, music for the Black demographic. Put her in a "top 40" video and voila, she's White!
For the record, I'm White, trying to play like James Jamerson and I Capitalize the use of race as a symbol of respect for human diversity
