MarkBass amps - anybody with experience with them?

I've been using the Markbass 1x12 combo for about a year now. 99% of the time play through PA support, so using it as stage monitor and for rehearsal. I have used it at one or two really small gigs stand alone and it held up fine. I got to play through a Little Mark III into 2 MarkBass New Yorker cabs at a recent outdoor gig with HUGE PA support. I pretty much just dialed in my gain and left the guys settings alone and I really couldn't tell much difference in tone between his set up and my combo.

One thing I will say is I get more compliments on my little MB combo amp's power, clarity, and tone from other musicians than any other amp I've played through before. I don't think they've ever seen such a small amp cut through the mix like this thing does. 27 lbs. and sits in the back seat of my Civic. Gotta love it. Yes, I will get an extension cab one day, but only cause I want it, but don't need it.

used a LM2 for a while. My bass gig ended and I stupidly sold it to fund other stuff. Probably the only piece of gear Ive ever actually regretting selling...

They are sweet.

I got my hands on the LMIII just for the line send volume control. I play a couple of rooms with pathetic preamps on the mixing boards, and the sound engineers appreciate the extra boost.

I now need to pair it with a great lightweight 4X10. That's the beauty of head and cab being separate.

Find them to be too clean for my taste.

I'm sure on Talkbass I'll get some flack for that, haha...

I play with some hair, but for the clean guys, considering how much these Markbass rigs cost, I think you're better off with a lower end Aguilar or Epifani. Just my $.02!

Yes, yours has the LMII head installed in it. The newer versions have the LMIII head which adds a level control for the D.I. on the front panel and a pre/post switch on the back.
