Markbass Little Mark II running hot!!

Hi all,

I was hoping you could give me a little insight as to an issue I was having last night on a gig.

I used my LMII with my ABM 115 COMPACT. The band before me used my rig, and at a low volume, then we went on. In total, it was used for about an hour and a half. The combo worked fine, but afterwards, the LMII was REALLY HOT!

Any thoughts or similar experiences?

Mine has never even gotten warm to the touch, even when blasting through a big 4ohm 410 at full volume all night. Something not right there. Make sure the fan is working and the vents are clear.

Thanks, I'll check the fan when I get home tonight. Anything else that could possibly be the cause?

Sounds like fan issue or T-stat if it uses one, unless clogged or dirty. Listen for any strange noises too when its sitting idle w/ power on.......but I would agree about the fan related matter....

I'm going to run it tonight before rehearsal and see if the fan engages at any point.

Will the fan normally kick on from the onset? or is it temperature triggered?

Is the fan something I can fix?

My SA450 always get quite warm during my gigs. It is in a rack bag though so i guess air flow is restricted.
My LMII doesn't really get warm unless its a long gig. Thats not racked.

I have the combo version with that head and my fan is always on. From the minute I power up, it runs all the time. The head never even seems warm to the touch.

Anyone have a favorite (and hopefully inexpensive) amplifier repair professional in the New York City area?

Looks like I've gotta get the fan or something in that circuit repaired.

my 210 gets hot if i leave the back cover piece on. other than forgetting to remove that before playing it has never gotten hot

Open the top cover and check to see that the wiring harness from the fan is plugged into the circuit board. Mine came unplugged from MF and it took me a year to figure out why it was getting so hot!
