Markbass Nano 300 - The first review (?)

Hey OP (and anybody else)?!,
Just acquired one of these off eBay. Like new, works great, great price too, but.........
Did the fan ever come on? Is it strictly thermal activation (seemingly not like all my various Little Marks)?
I haven't had enough time to get it hot yet.

I have not seen the fan running yet...it gets warm though, but not hot..

Thanks.
Well, I still have not heard from Markbass or anybody else in other related threads.
However, I've been to Vegas' two Guitar Center stores today,
and neither new Nano 300 I powered up had the fan running at start up.
So at this point I'm going to assume it's only under extreme thermal conditions that the fan kicks in.

Fan runs RIGHT from the start.... power on, kicks over and off the fan goes. Now I do keep it nice and warm at the house, BUT I'm not sure that's the reason! :-) Again, no problems on this side with the amp. LOVE the sound and size.

Hmmmm....
Very odd, as the OP's, mine and the two I checked out at the Guitar Centers all did not kick on at start up.
Still no response from Markbass.
I'm taking mine to rehearsal this week. Will report back.

Hi. I purchased a Nano head in Nov. 2016. I also noticed the fan did not work immediately, so I emailed them. Their response was that the fan kicks in only under really warm conditions, regulated by a thermostat. So I noticed after about 20-30 min of playing the fan kicks in..but we have summer now and it gets about 30 degrees/86 fahrenheit in the afternoon..

It comes on eventually in a stuffy room where everyone's sweating. Definitely thermostatic as this other fella said. The amp doesn't get hot as you might expect a tube amp to, so ive only noticed the fan come on a couple times. It's a super smooth, silent one too.

Took it to a loud rock rehearsal tonight. Totally stunned at what this puts out. I took my normal LMT800 along just in case but never needed it.

The amp never got more than warm and I never saw the fan kick on at any point.

I'm totally impressed.

I know this is an old thread, but do you still play this amp? What sort of cabs do you use with a full band?

I'll jump in...

Recently picked up a NY122 Ninja (8ohm)- so I'm just getting 150w from the Nano... played a 150 seat bar/restaurant and it was adequate. We had FOH support but didn't really use it. It wasn't 'punchy' but was cutting thru.

Still got it.
Recently used it in one of Vegas' bigger showrooms.
Markbass 104HR (8 ohm).
Although at 8 ohms (180 watts?) I was probably pushing it to its usable limit,
it acquitted itself very well.

I got a real good deal on it (like new) at $220 shipped.
If I find another at that price I'll definitely pick it up.

I have one. Sounds the best as an amp for jazz guitar with my Markbass Blackline 15 cabinet. Very clean and deep. Can't find a sound I like with a bass.
Ironically, I just picked up a second one today.
Since my last post I've used my first one on a couple fairly loud gigs with a couple different 8x10's.
A Ampeg SVT and a GK 8x10 Neo. Both 4 ohm.
Great tone and these heads have 300 very big watts. Never wished for my LMT800.
Didn't seem like I was close to taxing the head on either gig.
Thinking of selling my LMT800.
