Markbass...Thoughts? Love? Hate?

I don't love or hate MB stuff. I've purchased a few of the amps but ended up not keeping them b/c I couldn't get the tone that I was looking for. I keep looking and trying them to see if one does fit. I'm thinking of getting the F500 since I'll be able to boost the low mids.

Oh, I forgot to mention and I'm one of those who sin, but it's always good to have a B-plan setup in place in case the main system break down. Even if you take it to a local service center, it could take days/weeks in case they need to order spare parts. And in this new age of solid state and micro-electronics it's no longer a matter of just soldering in another replacement condenser.

If something would happen to me, I have another cab and I would get a used 300-500W head or borrow one from any of my local bass player friends. Anyway, it's good to have in place an emergency plan, especially for any professional bass players that have gigs. If nothing else, keep a DI box around for direct to PA use.

Ya know I find amazing is walking into a big in one easy to carry trip. I've got the 121P and for rehersal it stands its ground, at bar gigs I pair it with a 15 and it sounds great. For larger venues I treat it like a DI that provides me just a touch of stage volume.

If band practice isn't at your place, this is an invaluable tool. One trip and you're in the door. I recently got the mono gig bag as well so I've even got a hand free to open the door.

GUITAR CENTER

Buy it used, it'll take the off the exaggerated price and won't feed the GC machine. Used prices makes these tools feasable.

So, how about that Compressore becoming available in 2 month :ninja:

I believe that comment was based on the question of if anyone could find where a repair center was, to which he responded Guitar Center. I do agree, buying used can be helpful with prices (I just got an LMII for about $400), but I imagine getting these replaced is a little harder when you're not the original owner. Anybody have any experience in this matter?

Yeah, I'm in that boat, as I bought both my MB heads used. I know one is definitely out of warranty. Is GC the only repair place to take them to? I thought Jimmy said there were other options but I'm not sure.

Guitar Center is not a repair station. Amps 'in warranty' are just replaced by Guitar Center if there is a problem. If you have a MB amp that is out of warranty, Markbass has a number of 'licensed' repair centers in the US (since the company is in Italy and it wouldn't make sense for customers to have to ship their units to Europe from the US). There has always been a repair station in Boston. My understanding is there are now a few more spread across the country, but don't know much about it. If you are having trouble with your unit, PM Peter Murray or contact Riccardo ([email protected]) and they will tell you where to send your amp for repair.
