Math's Midori Green '51 Precision-MM (green headstock inside)

To follow up from this thread where I posted pics of my '51 Precision w/ MM pickup project.

So yeah. I recently bought a fretless neck from a fellow TBer for my MIM Jazz Bass, and I now had a fretted neck with nothing to do but collect dust. I figured I was better off spending a few hundred bucks to build something around it. I wanted to add a Precision style bass to my stable, but I also had a Stingray pickup hanging around. So I got a showcase '51 P body from Warmoth and had them do a route for the MM.

Here's what I got :

Then I did a little test fit with a few parts :

Passive electronics. V/V/3WAY/T setup. Paint? Honda Midori Green.

wow! i really like the look of that. been wanting a Warmoth build for aaaages, i'd love to do something similar...

i take it you're going to drop a single coil P pickup in there too?? :)

the black bridge looks cool. did you consider matching hardware?

Yup. I have to order a single-coil pup. I'm still undedided on one, but I'll probably go with a Quarter Pounder from Seymour Duncan. 1-800-OUTPUT.

As for the hardware, I'm getting black knobs, black straplocks and black pickguard screws. And eventually maybe some black tuners. I think it will look killer on the Honda green. The pickguard is 3-ply black/red/black. That bridge is a Hipshot vintage style, by the way.

cheers - hmm i'm guessing a QP 51 style pickup would sound great paired with a MM on the bridge... loud!

hardware sounds good too, i shall be watching this one with interest.

I'm painting the headstock right now, to practice painting with rattle cans. I sprayed three coats of primer directly on the maple and now I have one coat of green down -- that Honda green looks sick, like electric surf green. Pics later tonight - promise.

This is almost the same thing I'm going to get when I get some $$$ except I'm going to do the '54 body and prob won't have the hole routed for the Precision PU. I'm also going to go with a maple/maple neck (Geddy Lee if I can find one). Looks awesome though, looking forward to the pics.

Let's hear for Honda Midori Green. I love that color! Gave it two coats tonight, it's nice and covered, but some little specks of dirt found their way on the finish, so I'll let it dry tonight, sand tommorow, then give it a final coat before decal & clear.

The paint is from CMax (that's the paint dept. of NAPA Autoparts). It's automotive paint in a spray can. They do pretty much every OEM color. Just go in with a color code or a car serial number. Also got the primer from them. Good quality stuff. And you can get a pretty unique color for your bass. It was either that color or Subaru World Rally Blue, but I'm glad I went for the green in the end.

And yes, I have some auto clear has well. I'll put a decal I got from a site that doesn't want to be cited in between.

Cool thanks, did you chose your color based on a website or something?
I've got a guitar that I need to paint so I might give this a try.
