Matt Freeman??????

In the studio I think it's mainly a Precision (he said so in an interview about the 2000 Rancid album). Live I've seen him use both a variety of Fenders and a Musicman Stingray. Amp-wise I think it's mainly SVTs. Based on the interivew I mentioned above, I believe he also uses no effects whatsoever.

In practice, I can get closest to his tone using a Precision with a maple fretboard and playing with a pic. I hope this helps.

I think he actually uses GK amps now, and has for a while, may be wrong, i definatly remember seeing him use them tho.

I can match his tone with my Fender MIM P-bass and GK Backline 600 rig by just plugging straight in and turning the highs up and killing the lows. The two guitarists I play with run a Mesa Boogie and a Marshal full stack turned to 11 with full distortion, along with a super loud drummer, and it cuts right through with the master volume and boost only pushed up 3/4 of the way.
