Matt Geraghty - Why no Mention on Talk Bass?

I have been around TB for a while now, and yet I do not remember ever hearing the name Matt Geraghty come up. And unless I have had too much Rogue Dead Guy Ale today, my search for his name on TB comes up blank.

But man - I love this ( ex Chi-town ) guy! On Youtube there is a post of him playing for a Phil Jones Bass competition a few years back - using a BEER GLASS. My kind of guy.

All kidding aside, he is a 2-time(?) Latin Grammy nominated composer, keyboardist, and one hell of a bassist. Using primarily from what I see a single, REAL road-worn Fender Jazz - but he also plays Upright. And uses effects to a great, er, effect.

I dig his writing and his playing. And he has played with Paul Wertico, another Chicago legend. I know from observance, not from participation

Any of you cats know of him? Worth a listen IMHO. YMMV.

Yees...I came across Matt because of his traveling music documentary series that he's been doing in Cuba, [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], Peru (my country) but he has some awesome albums too that reflect his international vibes.

In Peru it featured all women artists on the Afro-Peruvian Music scene. As of now it's like over 400 artists he's featured and jammed with. He's the producer on all of it. www.justplay.world

He has a new band called Afro-Andean Funk that he created after his Peru trip. It's super eclectic but focuses on roots music from South America and themes of social justice and endangered languages. It's also Funk, Rock and Electronica. He plays electric on that. Check out their new album that they just released 'Flower on Fire.'
